AI tech stocks are facing a sell-off, with the Nasdaq falling 2% for the week. The biggest contradiction in the U.S. stock market right now is that AI investment continues to expand significantly

Coinbase Head of Strategy John D’Agostino says tokenizing US stocks is the most powerful marketing campaign for American soft power in history: “If I can humbly suggest this to anyone watching in DC, it is the most wonderful marketing for the US government and economy, and our image abroad ever.” “I want everyone in the world who can scrape together $10 of savings to want to invest in the economic miracle that is the US equity capital markets. I want them waking up every day, checking their Coinbase account, and being happy that the US economy grew, the S&P 500 grew, and US capital markets are thriving.” “There is nothing we should want more as Americans than pushing this out to the world. It’s more than just initial liquidity, it can be substantive baseline liquidity that US citizens can eventually plug into as well.”

Tokenization just moved from experiment to market infrastructure. On October 28, DTCC launched its Tokenization Service. The Depository Trust Company is now creating tokenized representations of securities it already holds, starting with 34 names. That includes select Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs, and Treasuries. Twenty participants have signed on, including JPMorgan, Citi, Morgan Stanley, Fidelity, and Alpaca. Transfers between registered wallets can run 24/7 once the tokens exist. @SpoutFi’s official account replied with a short historical note. In 1968, the NYSE closed on Wednesdays because the paperwork could not keep up. DTC was created to fix that. Fifty-three years later, the same institution is issuing tokens. The reply added that moving assets onchain is only the starting point. Next comes building financial products that weren't possible, or weren't as accessible, before. That is the part worth watching. @SpoutFi is building one of those products. It is a credit layer that takes tokenized equities as collateral, redeems them for real shares at a US broker, writes systematic covered calls against those shares, and uses the premium to fund 0% USDC loans. The on-chain side coordinates the positions. The cash flows and options activity happen in the regulated account. DTCC’s tokens are institutional digital twins, currently limited to registered wallets on Canton and Besu. @SpoutFi is still on Solana devnet, accepting third-party tokenized stocks, and has not yet announced a mainnet date. The two systems are not connected today. The interesting question is how long that separation lasts. If institutional tokenization expands beyond private networks and limited participants, protocols that can turn those tokens into usable collateral without the borrower paying traditional margin interest become more relevant. @SpoutFi has described its longer-term goal as infrastructure that issuers, exchanges, and wallets can plug into rather than a single destination app. The DTCC launch does not prove that vision. It does make the gap between tokens existing and tokens doing something useful more visible.

This is yuge!!! NYSE just featured @arcus_xyz 👀 The New York Stock Exchange shared a clip of Arcus’ Head of Operations talking about 24/7 trading, tokenized stocks and lower platform fees. That’s a pretty big spotlight for Arcus. A reminder: Season 1 of the points program ends no later than Q1 next year, so make this window count. Trade on Arcus: https://t.co/4irx3ETgKl

Hedge funds just hit the panic button harder than at any time in the last ten years. Here is why that is good news for you. Morgan Stanley tracks the total money its hedge fund clients have bet on stocks. When that total drops sharply, it means funds are being forced to cut positions, usually because their losses hit a limit. In the last 2 days, it fell 7.8%, a bigger unwind than the Covid crash, the GameStop squeeze, or the 2016 and 2018 selloffs. Every time this number fell past 6% (2016, 2018 twice, 2020, 2021, 2025), the S&P 500 bottomed within a week or two and was higher one, three and six months later. Six out of six. The reason is simple. Once the forced sellers have sold, there is nobody left to push prices down. Those same funds then have to buy back in, and that buying has powered every rebound in the table. As for me, I am looking for great businesses that got dumped for no reason. That is where the bargains are.
