The NFL and NFLPA released a joint statement providing players with clarification on celebrations that can result in a 15-yard penalty, fine, or both: Drinking celebrations are not an issue anymore. Gestures depicting violence, including guns/weapons or gang signs, depicting smoking or drug use or gestures that are sexual in nature are a problem. For “gray area” celebrations, the league says it will first contact the player and provide direction before imposing discipline.
