Meta has half the Claude Code users it had earlier this year, and still spent over $105M on the tool in a single 28 day stretch. That's roughly $3,500 per head. The headlines say Meta is walking away from Anthropic. To me it looks more like trimming the light users and keeping the ones who burn tokens all day. About 10% of the company was laid off in spring too, so part of the drop is plain arithmetic. Microsoft cut its internal budget by more than a third, but per The Information total Anthropic spend stayed roughly flat, because customers made up the difference. How many devs actually need the premium model, half or fewer?

The three banks have already started selling portions of the debt to other banks.

BREAKING: US business spending on computers and peripheral equipment, a key GDP measure of AI CapEx, jumped +$20.5 billion in Q2 2026 to a record $420.1 billion. This includes spending on physical computing hardware, including servers, data storage, personal computers, and peripherals, making it a useful proxy for AI-related hardware investment. This marks the 6th consecutive quarterly increase, totaling +$233.6 billion, or +125%. Since Q3 2023, spending on computers and peripheral equipment has nearly tripled. Furthermore, this metric does not fully capture AI CapEx, including AI data centers, communication equipment, and software. The AI investment boom is reaching unprecedented levels.
